Mayan Visual & Glyphs

Prior to hieroglyphic design, the contents exploring the interrelationship between visual concepts and culture and language were organized into visual essays and produced in a magazine format. In the middle section of the magazine, I contrasted the recurring human figures found in Maya numerals, presenting their transformations in an intentionally varied manner. The colors used on the cover and tracing paper were inspired by ‘Mayan Blue.’ Although the vividness was limited due to the nature of the paper, a duotone technique was applied to ensure clarity of form.
